The gym is a dynamic system composed of a physical environment and the people within it. The goal is to simulate how participants’ metabolic and thermal states, behaviours, movements, and social interactions collectively shape and are shaped by the surrounding environment. Modelling the environment and the states of participants remains the wider research goal.
Gym(t) = E(t) + ∑i=1N Pi(t) + I(t)
- Gym(t)
- The state of the gym at time t
- E(t)
- Environmental state: thermal field and equipment occupancy
- Pi(t)
- Participant i’s state: metabolic, cognitive, and positional
- I(t)
- Interactions between participants
- N
- Number of participants present
Use the camera, playback, and Display controls inside the lab. Small square numbers identify each participant’s workout area.
